Seattle Storm News Release
SEATTLE - In support of local middle schools, the Seattle School District and the Sonics & Storm Foundation have joined forces to raise funds for middle-school athletic programs.
"Schooling with the Storm" will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Furtado Center - the Sonics & Storm training facility. Storm Chief Operating Officer Karen Bryant, Storm Head Coach Anne Donovan and Storm players will be on hand at this special event that includes performances from the Storm Dance Troupe.
Attendees are encouraged to make a donation of $100 to the Sonics & Storm Foundation. A portion of each donation will be used to purchase athletic shoes for Seattle School District middle-school girls in need. All contributions will be used to support local middle-school student-athletes and athletic programs.
"The Storm organization is extremely proud to partner with the Seattle School District," said Storm Chief Operating Officer Karen Bryant. "The Storm is committed to encouraging students in the areas of fitness, health and education. We welcome the chance to help raise funds for middle-school athletic programs."
"I am so pleased with the partnership we are developing with the Seattle Sonics & Storm Foundation," added Seattle School Superintendent Raj Manhas. "This special event is a great opportunity to give all middle-school students the chance to be safe and active in school by providing something we often take for granted: a good pair of athletic shoes."
