Detroit Shock News Release

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.-The Detroit Shock will be at Kalloway's Restaurant in Oxford on July 27 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. for the fourth annual "Tip-a-Shock" charity promotion to benefit the Michigan Chapter of the March of Dimes. Kalloway's Restaurant is located at 595 North Lapeer Road, approximately 11 miles north of The Palace.

Shock players and coaches, along with surprise celebrity guests, will don aprons and serve as wait staff, bartenders, and hostesses. All tips from the team's efforts will go to the March of Dimes.

"This will be the fourth year we have done the Tip-a-Shock program, and each year has been a tremendous success. Our fans have come our in droves to support the March of Dimes," said Kristin Bernert, vice president of Shock operations. "This is a unique opportunity for our players to interact with the fans and it really gets us out into the community. Our host, Kalloway's, has been incredibly helpful. We cannot thank them enough."

The Shock will also host an auction featuring autographed merchandise from the players and coaches, as well as other Palace Sports & Entertainment memorabilia. Last year's Tip-A-Shock event raised over $6,000 for the March of Dimes.

The March of Dimes, first established in 1938 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the National Foundation, was originally created to fund research to develop a vaccine to fight polio. By 1955, polio was defeated. Today, the over three million March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality.

The Shock are currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference (7-8).

Lennox is the presenting sponsor of the Detroit Shock 2005 regular season. For more information on the Tip-a-Shock program or to purchase tickets for upcoming Shock home games, please contact The Palace at (248) 377-0100 or visit www.detroitshock.com.
