Somerset Patriots pitcher Ray Beasley signs with Texas Rangers

Bridgewater, NJ- The Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that left-handed pitcher Ray Beasley has been signed by the Texas Rangers organization.

Beasley pitched in six games with the Somerset Patriots this season and finished with six strikeouts in 10.1 innings pitched.

Prior to joining the Somerset Patriots, Beasley has experience in the Atlanta Braves and Rangers organizations, including five seasons of Triple-A experience. Beasley most recently played for Oklahoma, the Triple-A affiliate for the Rangers in the Pacific Coast League. He has a minor league career 3.43 ERA and 472 strikeouts in 412 games pitched.

"We are very excited for Ray and wish him success in the Rangers organization. This league continues to provide a wealth of talent for Major League organizations to find players that can compete at a very high level, and we are sure that Ray will not be the last one this season to be signed from our team," said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Beasley is the first Patriots player to sign with a Major League organization this season. He will report to the Rangers Double-A affiliate, the Frisco Rough Riders.

The 2004 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, May 31st when the Patriots come home for a Memorial Day Celebration at 1:05 pm.
