Bluefish defeat Pride, 7-4, take series

Bridgeport, CT – May 27, 2004 – The Bridgeport Bluefish came from behind to beat the Nashua Pride 7-4, in front of 3,760 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Rolo Avila scored for the Bluefish off a Jose Amado single to short right field, to put the ‘Fish up 1-0. The Pride tied the score at one as Kevan Burns scored after reaching on a double to the corner in left field.

The Pride went ahead in the top of the fourth inning as Mike Lopez-Cao scored on an error by Nick Ortiz fielding a single by Eric Shanks of the Pride, to go up 2-1. The second and third runs of the inning for the Pride came off a single to shallow right field by James Lofton, to put Nashua up 4-1.

Asbel Ortiz hit a triple off the right field wall to score Charles Alley and Keith Lu'uloa, and eventually scored for the Bluefish on a Rolo Avila single hit to shallow left center field to tie the game, 4-4. Avila scored to put the ‘Fish ahead off a wild pitch by Pride reliever Bubba Hardwick.

Asbel Ortiz came through big for the Bluefish again in the seventh inning with a two run RBI single to left center field, as Bridgeport took a three run lead, 7-4.

RHP Tim Cain pitched seven innings for the Bluefish giving up four runs (1 earned) on seven hits, with two walks and six strikeouts. Terrence Hill came into the game in the eighth inning in relief for the ‘Fish striking out two. Stevenson Agosto pitched the ninth inning for Bridgeport. The Pride sent five different pitchers to the mound throughout the game.
