LAST WEEK:

Orlando celebrated its first game of the season with Orlando United Night, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A. The emotional pre-game ceremonies included a video tribute to those lost in the June 12 Pulse Nightclub shooting and a salute to the first responders involved in the tragedy, along with a message from Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Theresa Jacobs. Solar Bears Chairman/CEO Joseph W. Haleski also presented a check to the OneOrlando Fund for $70,000, representing the funds raised by the sale of Orlando United t-shirts over the summer by the Solar Bears.
The Solar Bears took an early lead on the strength of a goal by Nikolas Brouillard, but the Everblades scored three straight before T.J. Foster notched a goal in the second period. Orlando could not close the gap as they fell to the Everblades in their first game of the season.
BEAR TRACKS:
Opening Night Through the Years
Following Saturday's game, Orlando is 2-2-1-0 in season-opening contests, and 3-2-0-0 in home openers at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center.
Nik'd 'Em
Nikolas Brouillard's two-point (1g-1a) effort in Saturday's loss to the Everblades was the first multi-point game by a Solar Bears defenseman since Brenden Miller's performance (2g-1a) on Apr. 2 at South Carolina of last season. Brouillard's goal at 3:35 of the first period also marked the third-fastest season-opening goal in team history, after Bryce Aneloski's opening salvo at the 3:27 mark on Oct. 18, 2014 against Greenville, and Brady Vail's marker at just 2:56 on Oct. 17, 2015.
Two in a Row for Foster
T.J. Foster's goal on Saturday marked the forward's second consecutive season with an Opening Night tally; the forward scored an empty-net goal as a rookie in last season's 6-3 win over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Oct. 17.
