INDEPENDENCE CUP - Wichita began its second week of action with one game against Missouri on Friday night. The Mavericks jumped out to a 1-0 lead before the Thunder scored the next four. Wichita went 1-for-3 on the power play and killed off all eight of Missouri's man advantages while also adding two shorthanded goals. Wichita takes a 1-0-0-0 lead in the Visit Wichita, Visit Independence Cup Series.
BRICK WALL - Scott Greenham got his second-consecutive start Friday night and didn't disappoint. He stopped 39 of 40 shots he faced en route to his first win of the season. He pushed his goals-against average down to 2.53 and save percentage to .934.
KRUSHIN' IT - Alex Krushelnyski has made an immediate impact to the Thunder line-up since being assigned by Binghamton. The Los Angeles, CA native has three points (1G, 2A) in two games and had two helpers last Friday night. Krushelnyski is seven goals shy of 50 for his career.
JACK BE NIMBLE - Jack Rodewald has goals in two-straight games. On Friday, he scored two minutes after Vincent Arseneau gave the Thunder a 2-1 advantage. The Winnipeg, Alberta native now has 20 goals as a pro after recording 18 last season with Orlando.
FIRST TIMER - In his first pro game, Matt DeBlouw recorded his first pro goal in the third period. The Michigan State University product got a beautiful feed from Alex Krushelnyski and he buried the Thunder's second shorthanded tally of the game. DeBlouw was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (round 7, #186).
LUCKY 7's - Malcolm Cameron earned his first win as the Head Coach of the Thunder on Friday night. He also moved into seventh place all-time in wins (318) in ECHL history.
