September 27, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Orlando Solar Bears News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears have agreed to terms with forward Stefan Fournier for the 2018-19 season.

Fournier (FORN-yay), 26, skated in 49 games with the Brampton Beast during the 2017-18 season, in which the forward posted totals of 22 points (15g-7a) and 145 penalty minutes. On June 13, the Solar Bears acquired Fournier's rights from Brampton to complete the future considerations portion of the Feb. 8 transaction that sent the ECHL rights of defenseman Jeff King to the Beast.

"Stefan is a player who is willing to go to the tough areas of the ice and can provide a net-front presence for us," Solar Bears head coach and general manager Drake Berehowsky said. "He uses his size to create opportunities that enable him and his teammates to score."

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Fournier has played in 211 career games split between the ECHL and AHL, generating a combined 52 points (27g-25a) and 526 penalty minutes.

"I'm ecstatic to be a new addition for the Solar Bears for this upcoming season," Fournier said. "I have high expectations of myself and our team. It's such a privilege and opportunity to play in the Sunshine State in front of the best fans in the ECHL - I can't wait to see everybody in October."

Prior to turning pro, the native of Dorval, Quebec played four seasons of junior hockey with the Halifax Mooseheads, Victoriaville Tigres and Lewiston MAINEiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, tallying 212 points (101g-111a) and 337 penalty minutes in 289 games. During his final year with Halifax in 2012-13, Fournier captained the Mooseheads to the QMJHL Presidents Cup title, as well as the Memorial Cup championship.
