
Solar Bears Bolster Roster with Gilbert, Keenan

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, announced today that they have agreed to terms with F David Gilbert and D Mike Keenan.
Gilbert (6-2, 200 lbs.) was drafted in the seventh round, #209 overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2009 NHL Draft. He led the Toledo Walleye in scoring last season, finishing with 35 points in 44 games, and tallied one goal in 10 games with the Rockford IceHogs (AHL). Gilbert has played in 54 AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs since 2009-10, picking up 13 points on five goals and eight assists. His ECHL experience includes 73 games, all with the Toledo Walleye, totaling 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points.
The Chateauguay, QC, native played five seasons (2007-11) in the QMJHL with the Quebec Remparts and Acadie-Bathurst Titan before joining the professional ranks, finishing his major junior career with 70 goals and 86 assists for 156 points in 209 games. Gilbert played in the CHL Top Prospects Game in 2008-09.
Keenan (6-0, 190 lbs.) joins the Solar Bears after splitting last season, his first as a pro, between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) and Stockton Thunder. In 41 games with the Sound Tigers, Keenan registered six points on three goals and three assists to go along with 72 PIM. He appeared in 11 games with the Stockton Thunder, scoring one goal and adding four assists for five points and 27 PIM. Keenan started his professional career at the end of the 2012-13 season, earning an assist and nine PIM in five games with Bridgeport.
A native of Weymouth, MA, Keenan played four seasons (2009-13) for Dartmouth College (NCAA) and was named the captain of the team for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, becoming only the second player in the 107-year history of Dartmouth to serve as the lone captain in consecutive seasons. Keenan played in 108 games during his collegiate career, finishing with 163 PIM, nine goals, and 29 assists. As a senior in 2012-13, Keenan was named to the ECAC Second All-Star Team.
Before joining the collegiate ranks, he played two seasons (2007-09) with the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL), posting 43 points (7G, 36A) and 222 PIM in 107 games. He finished fifth among USHL defensemen in points (39) and eighth among defensemen in PIM (129) in 2008-09.
