Solar Bears Add Toughness with Lyon, Good

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Brett Lyon and defenseman Brad Good.

Lyon (6'1", 185 lbs.) joins the professional ranks after spending the last four seasons (2008-2012) in the WHL (Western Hockey League). Lyon had a breakout season last year, scoring 13 goals, adding 23 assists, and racking up 164 PIM in 66 games split between the Moose Jaw Warriors and Kelowna Rockets. In his 224 WHL games, the Grand Forks, British Columbia, native registered 606 PIM while contributing 21 goals and 41 assists for 62 points.

Good (6'2", 201 lbs.) completed his first professional season with the Missouri Mavericks of the CHL (Central Hockey League), scoring one goal and adding eight assists to go along with 106 PIM. He got his first taste of professional action in 2010-11 when he played in six games with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) tallying one assist and eight PIM.

The Kitchener, Ontario, native skated for eight seasons at the amateur level, as he was a member of Carleton University in the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) from 2007-2011. In four years, Good played in 99 games, scoring seven goals and adding 26 assists for 33 points while also recording 198 PIM. In 2007-08, Good led his team with 72 PIM.

From 2003-07, the 26-year-old defenseman played for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League). His OHL numbers include 249 games played with 398 PIM to go along with three goals and 27 assists. Good led his team in PIM on two separate occasions, as he had 147 in 2006-07 and 138 in 2005-06.

"Brett and Brad are young players who are coming into camp looking to prove themselves," said Head Coach Drake Berehowsky. "Both players are gritty and will bring a physical edge to the lineup each night."

The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and AHL's Houston Aeros, are coming Out of Hibernation and will play 36 regular season home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center, beginning October 20, 2012.
