Snelten K's Eight to Stifle Milkmen

August 29, 2019 - American Association (AA) - Chicago Dogs News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Jordan Dean homered to back another spectacular start from D.J. Snelten as the Chicago Dogs remained in the playoff hunt with a 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Milkmen on Thursday night at Impact Field.

Snelten (W, 7-3) allowed just one run on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over a season-high eight innings. The former San Francisco Giant has now tossed six straight starts of at least seven innings and only one earned run allowed.

Milwaukee opened the scoring in the top of the second off of an Adam Walker solo homer.

In the bottom of the fourth, Trey Vavra hit a sacrifice fly to score Kelly Dugan and tie the game. On the next at-bat, Gustavo Pierre ripped an RBI single to score Victor Roache and put Chicago ahead, 2-1.

Dean then blasted a two-run homer in the fifth, his 14th of the year, to extend the Dogs' lead to three.

Snelten continued his dominance from there with three more scoreless frames, retiring nine of twelve batters faced.

Kyle Halbohn then slammed the door with a scoreless frame in the ninth for his 13th save of the season.

LHP Jake Dahlberg (8-6, 4.66 ERA) will start the series finale tomorrow evening, with first pitch slated for 7:05 PM.
