Lincoln 9, Cleburne 8 (12 Innings) - Box Score
First baseman Curt Smith blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to give Lincoln a 9-8 walk-off victory over Cleburne. With the loss, the Railroaders are now tied atop the South Division with Sioux City with five games to play in the regular season.
The Saltdogs had 12 hits in the contest with 3B Josh Mazzola leading the way offensively going 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. Lincoln LF Nick Schulz had two hits in three at-bats with an RBI while Smith, CF Forrestt Allday and RF Cody Regis each picked-up a pair of hits and two runs. Allday and Regis also launched home runs in the game for the Saltdogs.
Lincoln pitcher Martire Garcia tossed a scoreless inning of relief and notched the win. The southpaw gave up a hit and struck out one in the fourth batters he faced. Garcia is now 2-1 on the 2019 season.
Third baseman Chase Simpson had a three-hit game for Cleburne.
Winnipeg 3, Gary SouthShore 2 - Box Score
Winnipeg CF Reggie Abercrombie belted a three-run home run in the eighth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit and beat Gary SouthShore by the score of 3-2. The victory by the Goldeyes was their fourth straight.
The blast by Abercrombie was his only hit of the night in four at-bats along with three RBI. Winnipeg SS Adrian Marin had a 2-for-3 night with a double while DH Tyler Marincov and C Rey Pastrana each tallied a run. The Goldeyes had six hits in the contest.
Winnipeg pitcher Justin Kamplain tossed a scoreless inning of relief and collected the victory. The Alabama product gave up a hit in the three batters he faced. With the win, Kamplain is now 2-1 on the year.
Second baseman Marcus Mooney had a 2-for-4 night with a run scored in the loss for the RailCats.
Chicago 10, Milwaukee 3 - Box Score
Chicago scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-3 lead and would go on from there to defeat Milwaukee by a 10-3 final.
The Dogs pounded out 14 hits in the contest with four batters having multi-hit games. Chicago RF Victor Roache had a four-hit night with a pair of doubles and three RBIs while CF David Olmedo-Barrera and DH Keon Barnum each scored two runs and tallied three hits. Left fielder Kelly Dugan also helped the Chicago offense by collecting two hits in five at-bats along with a run and an RBI.
Dogs starting pitcher Luke Westphal tossed five solid innings of work and earned his 11th win of the season. Westphal allowed three walks and six hits to go along with four strikeouts.
For the Milkmen in the loss, 1B Glen McClain went 1-for-5 with two runs batted in.
St. Paul 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 - Box Score
St. Paul scored three runs in the fourth inning to grab a 4-2 lead and they would have to hold on late to edge Fargo-Moorhead, 4-3. With the victory, the Saints cut the RedHawks lead to one game in the race for the North Division regular season crown.
First baseman John Silviano led the way at the plate for St. Paul going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Saints C Jeremy Martinez had three hits in four at-bats along with a run while SS Chris Baker banged out a bases clearing three-run triple in the fourth and went 1-for-4.
St. Paul starter Chris Lee gave up three earned runs in 7 1/3 innings of work and claimed the win. The southpaw allowed a pair of walks and six hits to go with eight punchouts. Lee is now a perfect 3-0 on the year with the big victory.
For Fargo-Moorhead, RF Tim Colwell had a 2-for-4 night with a run scored and an RBI.
Kansas City 16, Texas 1 - Box Score
It was all Kansas City in this contest as the T-Bones rolled past Texas by the final of 16-1. With the win by Sioux City and the loss by Cleburne, Kansas City is now only one game behind the Explorers and the Railroaders in the race for first in the South Division.
The T-Bones pounded out 24 hits in the game with eight batters picking-up at least two. Kansas City RF Stewart Ijames had a tremendous night going 5-for-6 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. T-Bones DH Daniel Nava had a three-hit night with a run and four RBIs while 2B Dylan Tice and SS Shawn O'Malley combined for six hits and six runs.
Kansas City starting pitcher Jonathan Perrin threw six quality innings and earned his seventh victory. Perrin gave up an earned run on three hits and struck out five in a 77-pitch performance.
For the AirHogs in the losing effort, 2B/P Li Ning had a two-hit game.
Sioux City 9, Sioux Falls 1 - Box Score
Sioux City jumped out to a 6-0 lead through a half inning of action and would coast from there to a 9-1 win over Sioux Falls. With the win, the Explorers are now tied with Cleburne for first in the South Division.
The Explorers had 15 hits as a team tonight with every batter in the lineup collecting at least one. Sioux City RF Jeremy Hazelbaker went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs while CF Kyle Wren and 2B Drew Stankiewicz each had a pair of hits and two runs. First baseman Adam Sasser also aided the Explorers offense by blasting a grand slam in the first inning.
Starting pitcher Pete Tago gave up an earned run in six innings of work for Sioux City and grabbed the win. The 27-year-old allowed three walks and five hits to go along with nine punchouts. Tago improved his mark to 5-3 with the victory.
