Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA-Kramer Sneed led the Inland Empire 66ers (32-31) pitching staff to its second shutout of the 2013 season, highlighting a 3-0 victory Sunday over the High Desert Mavericks (31-32).
The win pull the 66ers to three games back of division leading Lancaster with seven games left in the first half of the season.
Sneed was the starting pitcher for the only other 66ers shutout this year back in April against the Lake Elsinore Storm, but it was a far different challenge Sunday afternoon against the league's second highest scoring offense in High Desert. Sneed made it look easy, allowing just two hits in six innings while striking out six Mavericks on his way to his sixth win of the year .
Offensively Inland Empire got a great lead off performance from Zach Wright who went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored in his second day as the top hitter in the lineup for the 66ers. Zach Borenstein had two RBI in the performance, and Eric Stamets added an RBI as well.
Following Sneed on the mound were R.J. Alvarez and Carmine Giardina who both got holds after striking out the side in their respective innings. The two relievers combined to strike out six straight batters as they came to the plate for the Mavericks. Mike Morin wrapped things up in the 9th for his ninth save of the year.
Inland Empire will now turn its attention to the Stockton Ports for Monday's series opener at San Manuel Stadium. It will also be Man's Best Friend Monday at the ballpark where fans are invited to bring their dogs to the ball game.
