Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Beloit scored four runs in bottom of the third inning to snap out of their recent funk and claim game one of the doubleheader against the Swing of the Quad Cities, 6-4. Lefty Tyler Robertson got the win going five strong innings allowing four runs while striking out eight.
The Snappers got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning. Chris Parmelee singled to center field scoring Joe Benson, who earlier doubled to lead off the inning. Parmelee's RBI made it a 1-0 Snappers' lead after one.
After the Swing tied the game in the top of the second the Snappers jumped back ahead in the bottom half. Joe Benson hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring David Hernandez and giving the Snappers the lead again, 2-1.
Beloit then plated four more in the bottom of the third inning to blow the game wide open. RBI's from Garrett Olson, David Hernandez (2), and Chris Cates pushed Beloit's lead to 6-1.
Quad Cities made it a game with three runs of their own in the top of the fourth inning to pull to within two runs, 6-4.
Dan Leatherman and Anthony Slama held the Swing right there, however, pitching a combined two innings of scoreless relief. The Snappers would win game one of the doubleheader by the final of 6-4.
Chris Parmelee left the game in the fourth inning after fouling a ball off his leg. Chris was replaced by Ramon Santana.
