Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING - It's official, the Lansing Lugnuts Jersey Off Our Back auction on Friday, August 17th was the most successful in team history! The Lugnuts were able to raise $3,067.44 for the Capital Area United Way this season, shattering the previous high.
"We are proud to be able to give back to the community and support the youth which are the future of the Capital Area, by partnering with a variety of charities, including the United Way," Lugnuts co-owner Sherrie Myers said.
The Lugnuts held their third annual silent auction featuring game-worn jerseys as a part of Lugnut Charities Night presented by Dan Henry Distributing. Several of the uniforms went for astonishing prices, led by outfielder Travis Snider's threads that were sold at a winning bid of $625. Other popular items were hitting coach Charles Poe's number 44 jersey which went for $444.44, while reliever Chris Reddout and infielder Scott Campbell each had thier jersey sold at $300.
The jersey prices started at $95, but the auction saw 12 jerseys go for over $200 while the average winning bid was just over $185.
Last year the Lugnuts were able to raise more than $1,700 by auctioning off the team's road uniforms.
All of the winning bidders will receive their authentic, game-worn jerseys at the conclusion of the season. The jerseys will also be autographed by the player who wore them during the year.
