APPLETON, WI - The Beloit Snappers (48-55) fell on Tuesday's series opener 8-7 against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (48-54) on a walk-off sacrifice fly.

The Snappers offense got on the board in the top of the first with three hits on the first five pitches. Beloit added another run on an RBI fielder's choice by Jan Mercado. In the bottom of the second, the Timber Rattlers loaded the bases and plated a pair of runs to tie the game.

In a 2-2 game, the Beloit Snappers logged three runs in the top of the fourth to lead 5-2. However, Wisconsin scored five unanswered runs to lead 7-5 after six innings. After a scoreless seventh inning, Jan Mercado hit a solo home run on the first pitch of the eighth inning to narrow the gap to 7-6.

Beloit did close that gap after an error from the Timber Rattlers allowed Connor Scott to score with one out in the top of the ninth. In extras, the Snappers left the placed runner, Mercado, at third base and lost one batter into the tenth inning on a sacrifice fly.

Beloit's Top Performers: Scott went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a sac fly. Victor Victor Mesa had a three-hit effort in the loss. Troy Johnston was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, his sixth over the last two games. Ynamanol Marinez collected a hit in the 12th of his last 14 games.

The Snappers are on the road against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Wednesday before they are back at ABC Supply Stadium on Tuesday, September 7th against the South Bend Cubs for the final home stand of the season.
