BELOIT, WI - The Snappers' second-half struggles continued on Sunday afternoon, as they fell to the in-state rival Timber Rattlers 5-3. Sunday represented Beloit's sixth consecutive loss, keeping the Snappers in eighth place of the Midwest League Western Division. The defeat also solidified another series loss at Pohlman Field; the Snappers have yet to win a home series in 2019.

Beloit struck first on Anthony Churlin's two-run single in the first inning. The Rattlers quickly retaliated, tying the game thanks to Gabriel Garcia's solo home run in the second and a Connor McVey RBI single in the third. John Jones gave the Snappers the lead again with his fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the third.

A wild pitch from Snappers tandem starter Rafael Kelly, who relieved Richard Guasch, knotted the game at 3-3 in the fifth. Chad McClanahan's RBI groundout gave Wisconsin its first lead of the game in the sixth inning, and then a solo shot from Leugim Castillo in the eighth added insurance for the Timber Rattlers.

After the first three innings of Sunday's contest, Beloit's bats went dormant. The best performance came from Jones, who turned in a 3-for-3 day. Jones has now hit safely in each of the six games he has appeared in since the All-Star break. McVey, David Fry, Jesus Lujano and Castillo each had two hits for Wisconsin.

The Snappers look to avoid the series sweep tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. CT. Reid Birlingmair (2-5, 5.95 ERA) will look to turn his season around; the righty posted a 2.37 ERA through his first seven appearances in 2019, but has been knocked around to the tune of an 11.12 ERA in five starts since. The Timber Rattlers will counter with Justin Jarvis (2-0, 3.97 ERA).

The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. For more ticket information, contact the Snappers office at (608) 362- 2272 or visit our website, www.snappersbaseball.com.
