Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Clinton, IA - The Quad Cities River Bandits and Clinton LumberKings had play suspended with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning on Sunday evening when severe weather arrived at NelsoCorp Field in Clinton. The game will be resumed as part of a doubleheader with the score 0-0 on Monday at 5:00 p.m. That contest will go a full nine innings and be followed by another nine-inning game approximately 30 minutes after it concludes.
The day began with heavy rain showers at the scheduled start time of 2:00 p.m. First pitch was delayed for two and a half hours as the grounds crew tended to the field. Once the game was underway, the pitching on both sides took control.
Clinton starter Tanner Andrews worked all 7.0 innings on the hill and allowed just one hit, a single from Alex McKenna in the second. At one point he retired 15 consecutive hitters between McKenna's single in the second and a walk to Oscar Campos in the seventh.
Quad Cities starter Brett Daniels found himself in some trouble throughout the night, but was always up to the challenge. He departed with two outs in the sixth, having allowed just three hits. The right-hander struck out seven and walked four. Layne Henderson recorded the final out of the sixth inning and had struck out the first two hitters of the seventh when everyone on the field scrambled for cover in the clubhouses. Christopher Torres will be at the plate when play resumes.
The pitching for both teams remains to be announced, but RHP Matt Ruppenthal (2-2, 4.40) was originally scheduled to work for the River Bandits. Clinton had planned to toss RHP Alberto Guerrero (3-2, 2.60) on Monday.
All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
