
Chiefs Fall to Burlington in Rained Shortened Contest

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs fell to the Burlington Bees 3-2 Sunday night at Dozer Park, after playing five innings the game was called due to weather. The Chiefs fall to 3-7 in the second half and 33-46 overall.
Burlington opened the scoring in the top of the first against Chiefs starter Kyle Leahy. After an error and sac bunt, Francisco Del Valle singled home the first run of the day.
The Chiefs tied the game in the bottom of the second against Burlington starter Kyle Tyler. Brady Whalen singled and Leandro Cedeno reached on an error to put runners at first and second before a double play. In his return to Peoria, Andres Luna hit a two-out RBI single to score Cedeno and tie the game at one.
The Bees regained the lead in the top of the fourth. After a triple, Tim Millard doubled with two outs to increase the lead to 2-1.
The Chiefs tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Whalen led off with a walk and advanced to second on a throwing error as Alexis Wilson reached on a fielder's choice. With one out, Andres Luna knocked a single, his second hit of the game, scoring Whalen from second to tie the game at two.
Burlington reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth. A one-out single and walk put runners on first and second as Connor Fitzsimons doubled to score the go-ahead run for the 3-2 lead.
The game was delayed by rain and high winds before the start of the sixth inning. After a 43-minute delay the game was called with Burlington winning 3-2.
Leahy (4-5) took the loss after pitching five innings, his first complete game of the season. Leahy allowed three runs, two earned on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
The Chiefs conclude their series against the Burlington Bees Monday at 6:35 p.m. Peoria will start LH Colin Schmid (3-2, 5.08) against Burlington LH Hector Yan (2-2, 3.62).
