Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

FOX CITIES STADIUM -- The Beloit Snappers scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to rally from a 5-3 deficit and beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 7-5 Tuesday night. Angelo Fermin broke a 5-5 tie with a two-out, two-run single in the decisive inning.

Wisconsin (44-39 overall, 5-8 second half) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on an alert play by baserunner Josh Womack. Brandon Green was at third and Womack was at second with one out. Oswaldo Navarro lifted a deep fly to left. Paul Rutgers made a leaping catch, crashed into the wall, and fell to the ground for a moment. Green scored easily and Womack just beat the relay throw home to give the Rattlers two runs on the sacrifice fly.

Beloit (40-43, 7-6) answered with a run on a RBI ground out by Trevor Plouffe in the top of the fourth.

The Rattlers got one run in the bottom of the fifth inning on an error and added another on a sacrifice fly by Marshall Hubbard for a 4-1 lead.

Rattler starting pitcher Julio Santiago left with two runners on and no outs in the top of the sixth. Rattler reliever Cibney Bello gave up RBI singles to Javier Sanchez and Fermin, but stranded a Snapper on all three bases to keep Wisconsin in front 4-3.

Womack drove in a run with his third hit of the night, an RBI single to right, in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 5-3 lead.

Bello ran into trouble in the top of the seventh after getting the first two outs. He walked Johnny Woodard and gave up a single to Plouffe. Sanchez and Tarrence Patterson each followed with an RBI single to tie the game 5-5. Bello walked Rutgers to load the bases before being pulled in favor of Eric O'Flaherty.

Fermin lined a 2-2 pitch from O'Flaherty into center for a two-run single to put Beloit in front 7-5.

Womack led off the bottom of the ninth with his fourth hit of the night, but Snapper closer JP Martinez got a fly ball and a game ending double play to earn his eighth save of the season.

Game three of the series is Wednesday morning. Jason Snyder (9-6, 4.25ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Anthony Swarzak (8-4, 3.70ERA) is slated to start for the Snappers. Game time is 11:35am.
