UPCOMING GAMES AND PROMOTIONS
Thursday, February 6 - Columbus at Knoxville, 7:35 PM EST (Season Series vs. KNX: 1-6)
The Cottonmouths head to Knoxville looking to put some distance between themselves and the 8th place Ice Bears. A win would give the Cottonmouths a 5 point, 2.5 game lead over their original four counterpart heading into the final two months of the season. Since their last meeting the Ice Bears have welcomed back F Berkley Scott who has spent the last season in the ECHL between Utah and San Francisco. The Cottonmouths hope to build off their 3 out of 4 possible point weekend and continue their climb in the SPHL standings before heading 8 hours north to Peoria.
Friday/Saturday, February 7/8 - Columbus at Peoria, 8:15 PM EST (both nights) (Season Series vs. PEO: 1-1-0)
The Cottonmouths wrap up the regular season series with the expansion Peoria Rivermen this weekend with a back to back set of games on Friday and Saturday night in Illinois. Columbus and Peoria split a pair of games on December 26 and 27 in the only other two games between the two teams this season. The Snakes dropped a 2-1 decision to the Rivermen in the first game while soundly defeating Peoria 5-1 the next night. Head coach Jean-Guy Trudel and the Rivermen will probably be very happy to see a new opponent as their last nine games have consisted of five consecutive games against intrastate rival Bloomington followed by four straight in two home-and-home pairs of games against Knoxville. The Rivermen finished the dosage of the Thunder and Ice Bears with a 5-3-1 record in those games. Peoria is in the thick of the SPHL playoff picture as they sit just eight points behind league-leading Pensacola with three games in hand on the Ice Flyers and have at least one game in hand on each of the four teams ahead of them in the standings.
PROMOTIONS: Head to Loco's on 13th Street in midtown Columbus on Friday and Saturday nights to catch all the action in a family-friendly atmosphere! The games will be broadcast live from Peoria at Loco's both nights.
