Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

Knoxville, TN - Knoxville hosted the Columbus Cottonmouths for the eighth time this season. A crowd of 2,046 fans watched Knoxville notch another dramatic win when Berkley Scott scored off a penalty shot to solidify the 4-3 win with 6 seconds remaining in the game.

Brad Pawlowski and Columbus' Alex Gallant dropped their gloves 3:04 into the first period. After throwing punches, Pawlowski headed to the penalty box, and Gallant left the ice. Both players received 5 minutes for fighting and 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Columbus was first to light the lamp. Matt Gingera sent the puck past Knoxville's Bryan Hince at 10:38 for a 1-0 lead. Pawlowski drew even over 6 minutes later with assists from Berkley Scott and Ben Power. The assist tallied Scott's first point since his return to the SPHL. The teams skated into the second period tied at 1.

Just 48 seconds into the second Eric Satim gave the Ice Bears the lead. Power passed the puck in front of the net where it was tapped in. David Segal and Will Aide dropped their gloves at the 1:24 minute mark. Segal knocked Aide to the ice, and the players skated to the penalty box for 5 minutes.

Columbus tied the game at 10:05. Neilsson Arcibal bounced the puck in past Hince. The Ice Bears erased at 4 minute penalty while Segal was boxed for high sticking. The teams entered the final period locked at 2.

Jason Gray received 2 minutes for hooking at 3:01 in the third period. Knoxville's Jeremy Klaver followed 30 seconds later leaving the teams skating 4-on-4. With 4:55 left of play, Kyle Johnson put Columbus back into the lead 3-2.

With just 1:55 left Andy Willigar was penalized for holding, allowing the Ice Bears to finish the game with a 5-on-4 advantage. Segal buried the tying goal on the power play. Power assisted on the goal for his third assist of the game.

The clock was down to 6 seconds, and the Cottonmouth's goaltender Andrew Loewen was called for intentionally displacing the net. The Ice Bears were awarded a penalty shot. Scott skated out to take the shot. Loewen went for the save, and the puck slid in off his pads for Scott's first goal of the season as an Ice Bear. Scott finished the game with two assists and the game winning goal.

After two exciting wins for the Ice Bears, fans won't want to miss Saturday's fan favorite Wiener Dog Race night. The Ice Bears will play the Pensacola Ice Flyers, and the puck drops at 7:30. To order tickets call 865-656-4444 or visit www.knoxvilletickets.com.
