Ice Flyers Down Knoxville 3-2 in OT

PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers hosted the Knoxville Ice Bears for the first half of a home-and-home and came out with a 3-2 overtime win.

The Ice Flyers took the 1-0 lead nearly halfway through the first when Podge Turnbull picked up his 15th goal of the season. John Dunbar and Ryan Salvis assisted on the goal that came 9:33 into the period. That would be the only goal in a period where the Ice Flyers out shot Knoxville 11-7.

Knoxville tied the game up when Berkley Scott scored with 8:34 left in the second. The Ice Flyers needed a spark and got it when Joe Bueltel took on Knoxville's Corey Fulton. After a flurry of rights by both players, Fulton and Bueltel both received five minutes for Fighting. Pensacola regained the lead with a power play goal by Corey Banfield that came with 5:20 remaining in the middle period. Justin Alonzo and Turnbull assisted on the tally.

Knoxville tied the game again when Scott picked up his second goal of the night with 8:27 remaining in the third. The score stood at tied at two following regulation so the teams headed to overtime. Only a 1:15 was needed in OT as Banfield scored an unassisted goal for his his second goal of the game.

The Ice Flyers' next game is tomorrow Saturday, Feb. 8 as the Ice Flyers again take on these Knoxville Ice Bears, this time in Knoxville. Puck drop is scheduled for at 6:35 p.m. Central.
