Knoxville Smokies News Release

Kodak, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies (20-12) won for the seventh consecutive game Saturday evening at Smokies Stadium, as they defeated the Montgomery Biscuits (15-17) 7-3. The win, coupled with Rocket City's loss, gave the Smokies a two-game lead in the Southern League North division.

Christopher Morel provided the fireworks for the Smokies in their sixth consecutive win over Montgomery. Leading by two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Morel gave the Smokies insurance with a three-run home run. Morel reached base safely in 4-of-5 trips to the plate Saturday despite missing the first two games of the series.

Levi Jordan also went deep in the sixth - a leadoff shot and his third with Tennessee. Jordan's homer extended the Smokies' lead after they scored twice on a fourth-inning error. Montgomery's first baseman Austin Shenton dropped a pop-up in fair territory, which allowed two runs to score and gave the Smokies a lead they never relinquished.

Max Bain made his first career Double-A start and worked four innings, allowing two earned runs. Dalton Stambaugh (W, 3-0) earned the win in relief, and Eury Ramos fired two scoreless frames to preserve the win.

The Smokies and the Biscuits will play the seventh and final game of their series Sunday afternoon at Smokies Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET when the Smokies send LHP Brandon Leibrandt (1-2, 4.79 ERA) to the mound against RHP Jayden Murray (1-1, 3.38 ERA). Fans can listen to the action on 99.1 The Sports Animal or by visiting https://www.milb.com/tennessee/fans/audio-listen-live.

Sundays at Smokies Stadium are Family Funday Sunday, presented by YMCA of East Tennessee. For tickets, fans can call the box office at (865) 286-2300 or visit smokiesbaseball.com.
