
Smokies Win Fourth in a Row in Birmingham

Birmingham, AL- The Tennessee Smokies extend the winning streak to four after a 5-1 victory late on Thursday night. Tennessee got another gem of an outing from starter Ben Brown, and the bullpen did its job to close it out.
The Smokies got on the scoreboard first with a 2-run home run from Bradlee Beesley, which was his second of the series and his second in just three games since joining the club on Tuesday. Birmingham got on the board in the bottom of the third on a throwing error by BJ Murray to make it 2-1.
Tennessee got back on the board in the top of the sixth on a BJ Murray Double to deep center field, scoring Luis Vazquez to make it 3-1, Smokies. Tennessee catcher Miguel Amaya put the game away in the eighth inning with a 2-run blast, making it 5-1. The Smokies held on to win their fourth game in a row by a final of 5-1.
Smokies starter Ben Brown got the dub, tossing 5 innings, giving up just 1 run and striking out 8 batters. Smokies reliever Chris Kachmar was terrific out of the pen, tossing 3 innings of shutout baseball and striking out 6 batters.
