Knoxville Smokies News Release
JACKSON, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies capped a division-winning regular season with a 5-4 win over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx at Pringles Park.
Marco Carrillo (4-1) picked up the win in relief of starter Casey Coleman, who only threw three innings since he's scheduled to start for Tennessee at Huntsville in Game 2 of the divisional playoffs on Friday.
Tennessee took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, with Brandon Guyer advancing home on a throwing error by West Tenn catcher Fleming Baez after Guyer stole third.
The Diamond Jaxx put two runs on the board in the third and one in the fifth, but the Smokies took the lead in the sixth with a four-run rally to go up 5-3.
David Cales pitched the final two innings for Tennessee to earn his second save of the season.
Tennessee will rest for two days before game one of the divisional playoffs on Thursday in Huntsville. The opening game will feature Tennessee's Jeremy Papelbon (6-5) against Huntsville's Josh Butler (2-1).
