Greenville, SC -- The Greenville Braves (23-28) won their second straight from Tennessee (25-27) with a 5-0 win Wednesday night in Greenville. The Braves' Matt Belisle (W, 2-5) allowed only one earned run and struck out eight in the win.
The Smokies scored two runs in the eighth when Danny Solano stroked the Smokies' third double of the night. Rich Thompson singled home Solano and scored when Buddy Hernandez walked Matt Logan with the bases loaded. Shawn Fagan struck out with the bases loaded to end the threat.
Tennessee starter Peter Bauer (L, 1-5) didn't allow a baserunner until Pete Orr led off the fourth with a single. Orr later scored on a squeeze bunt by Jermaine Allensworth. The Braves notched three runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth to open a 5-0 lead.
The series continues Thursday when Diego Markwell (5-3, 3.28) starts for the Smokies against Jung Bong (3-5, 4.31).
