Orlando Rays News Release
The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx pushed one run across in the top of the ninth to break a 3-all tie for the second straight night, defeating the Orlando Rays 4-3 in front of a crowd of 4,335 Wednesday night at Disney's Wide World of Sports®.
Unlike the previous night, Orlando jumped out early on Wednesday, as Matt Diaz drove in a run in the first inning with a sacrifice fly and another in the third with a single. Josh Pressley, who had three hits on the night, added an RBI single in the third as well to give Rays' starter Dewon Brazelton a three-run lead. The Diamond Jaxx finally broke through against Brazelton in the fifth though, scoring three times to tie the game. Tony Schrager's RBI double was the biggest blow of the inning.
The game remained deadlocked until the ninth, when Schrager connected for a two-out single off of Travis Minix to score the winning run. Ferenc Jongejan got the win for West Tenn in relief, while Minix suffered his fifth loss for the Rays. Francis Beltran pitched a scoreless ninth for the second night in a row to earn his fourth save.
The two teams will meet again Thursday night at 7:05 pm at Disney.
