
Barons Collectable Bobblehead Series begins Friday

BIRMINGHAM, AL â Fans are encouraged to come to the Met early on Friday, May 31 as the Barons begin one of the best collectable bobblehead doll giveaways in the country this year.
The first 1500 adults ages 13 and over will receive a free replica 1990 Frank Thomas bobblehead. Thomas played for the Barons in 1990 and was named Baseball America's Minor League Player of the Year. Thomas hit .323 with 18 home runs and 71 RBI in 109 games with the Barons before being promoted to the Chicago White Sox. Since his promotion to the big leagues, Thomas, was won two American League Most Valuable Player Awards (1993 and 1994) and been named to five American League All-Star Teams.
The Barons will be having two more collectable bobblehead doll giveaways this year. On Saturday, June 29 the Barons will giveaway a bobblehead of Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson as he appears in a 1967 Birmingham A's uniform. The final bobblehead doll giveaway will be on Friday, August 16. A 1948 Birmingham Black Barons bobblehead of Hall of Famer Willie Mays will be given away to the first 1500 adults ages 13 and over.
"The technology used in making these bobbleheads is remarkable. Each of the bobblehead dolls will appear as these players looked in the respective years they played here in Birmingham," said Barons President/General Manager Tony Ensor. "We are excited for our fans to receive such a top of the line giveaway. There is only one place you can get these dolls and that is at the Hoover Met."
