BIRMINGHAM, AL â The Jacksonville Suns shut out the Birmingham Barons 3-0 Wednesday night at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Ricardo Rodriguez who started for the Jacksonville Suns held the Barons (29-23) scoreless through seven innings of work. Rodriguez struck out two hitters while walking three. Birmingham's starter Corwin Malone (5-3) was credited with the loss after walking seven in five innings of work. Jason Dellaero came in the game in the eighth inning and struck out three Suns over the final two innings.
Miguel Olivo and Josh Shaffer had the only two Barons hits. The Barons did remain in a first place tie with the Lookouts with their loss to Carolina. Birmingham plays Jacksonville Thursday at 7 pm at the Hoover Met.
