Spokane, WA - Chad Smith fell into a big slump after the All-Star break but he's getting back on track just in time for the playoff push. Spokane's right fielder doubled twice and scored once as part of a three hit night but it wasn't enough as the Hops topped the Indians 8-5 in front of 4,006 fans at Avista Stadium for Grand Slam F-150 Sweepstakes presented by Gus Johnson Ford, KIX 96.1, and Family Guide.

The 18-year-old from Snellville, GA has roughed up Hillsboro's pitching all series with six hits - including four that have gone for extra bases - and four RBI in the first three games at Avista Stadium. Smith has raised his average 16 points in that span to .248 - the highest it has been since August 6.

Hillsboro bounced back from getting shutout on Tuesday night as they scored six runs in the first two innings against lefty CD Pelham (0-6) and reliever Kevin Lenik. The Indians scored once in the fourth on a Carlos Garay single and again in the fifth on an opposite-field base knock from Charles Leblanc. The Hops stretched their lead to 8-2 with a two-run homer from Jason Morozowski before Seth Spivey provided the game's final margin with a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the ninth.

Anderson Tejeda finished the night 3-for-5 while Leblanc and Luis Terrero each had two hits in defeat. The loss dropped the Indians to 11-22 in the second half and 30-41 overall.
