Sacramento, CA - Will Smith delivered an outstanding seven inning performance in pitching Omaha past Sacramento, 7-1, Friday night in the last of a four-game set at Raley Field. The Storm Chasers salvaged the final game of the series to improve to 23-13 at the quarter pole of the season.

Clint Robinson and Max Ramirez drew walks to start the second inning and scored two outs later on Terry Evans three-run homer, the first of the series for Omaha, to give the visitors the lead they would not relinquish. The River Cats answered with a run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Stephen Parker, who was then thrown out at the plate trying to score on a Luke Hughes double to end the inning.

Tony Abreu's solo shot with two outs in the third restored a three-run advantage and extended his hitting streak to 11 games. The Chasers failed to score after putting the lead off man on in the fifth through seventh innings but added to their lead in the eighth on a two-run bases loaded single by Ramirez and a scoring fly ball off the bat of Anthony Seratelli.

Smith yielded just the lone run on six hits while striking out six and not walking a batter to earn his first win of the season. Tommy Hottovy took over and fanned four over two scoreless frames to preserve just the second win in the last eight road contests for Omaha.

The Storm Chasers travel to Fresno to open a four-game set on Saturday night with left-hander Everett Teaford taking the hill against Grizzlies' southpaw Brian Burress. Coverage of the game gets underway at 8:45 pm and can be heard locally on AM 1180 and online at omahastormchasers.com.
