
Small Ball Key in Jammers Victory

Jamestown, NY - The Jammers looked to picked up another series win on Thursday night against the Staten Island Yankees. For the first time in the series there would be a run scored in the first inning and would prove pivotal as the Jammers picked up a 2-1 victory.
The Jammers would kick off the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Harold Ramirez would work a one out walk. With Adam Frazier at the plate, Ramirez would swipe his 16th stolen base of the season. Frazier would trade spots with Ramirez two pitches later as he drove a Sam Agnew-Wieland pitch off the left field wall to make it a 1-0 game on his 12th RBI of the season.
Cody Dickson continued his dominant string of pitching while searching for his second win on the season. Dickson was able to keep the left handed bats of the Yankees at bay throughout the night with a spot on breaking ball. He would hand things over to the Jammers bullpen after five shut-out innings on the night, striking out four batters and walking just one.
Both teams would trade outs over the course of the next four innings and keep the crowd of 2,210 fans on the edges of their seats as the later innings rolled around. Shane Carle would hold the Yankees to another scoreless inning after coming on in relief of Dickson in the sixth inning.
The Jammers would the all important second run of the night in the bottom half of the inning. After back to back singles from Frazier and Erich Weiss to start off the inning, Andrew Benak would get Danny Collins to ground into a double play but allow Frazier to score from third to make it 2-0 Jamestown.
Staten Island would make things a little more interesting in the top half of the seventh inning as Isaias Tejeda would reach base on a single but take second on a over throw by Jammers third baseman Erich Weiss. Tejeda would over to third one batter later on a groundout and eventually score on Weiss's second error off the inning to cut the lead to 2-1.
Carle and the Jammers would regain their composure and record the final six outs of the ball game to pick up their 28th win of the season. In doing so, Carle notched his first save of the season and Dickson moved to 2-0 on the season. The Jammers move to 5-3 on the season against teams from the McNamara Division and will open up a three game series against the Brooklyn Cyclones on Friday night.
