Slumping Sluggers Break Out In Wild Win

Winston-Salem, NC - Slumping sluggers found their form and the Wilmington Blue Rocks (9-4) logged another win with a 7-6 come-from-behind defeat of the Winston-Salem Dash (6-7) at BB&T Ballpark on Thursday night. Tim Ferguson and Carlo Testa entered the game a combined 7-for-53 (.132) on the young year. The duo combined for three extra-base hits, two homers, four RBIs and three runs scored. Catcher Jose Bonilla iced the win when he caught pinch runner Kyle Colligan trying to steal second for the game's final out. Justin Marks (1-0) got the win, his first as a Blue Rock, while closer Kevin Chapman struck out three for his fourth save in as many tries.

Game two of the series comes on Friday night at 7 p.m. Wilmington right-hander Jake Odorizzi (0-0, 3.86) is scheduled to face Winston-Salem righty Cameron Bayne (2-0, 0.00). PEBBLES OF KNOWLEDGE:

Louis Coleman got the call up to Kansas City earlier in the day and made his Major League debut on Thursday night against the Cleveland Indians. The former LSU star became the 108th former Blue Rock to make the Major Leagues.
