Sliders Split with Lake Erie

The Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti couldn't catch up in the standings closer the Lake Erie Crushers Friday night, but they also didn't fall behind. They split the doubleheader losing the first game 2-5, and winning the second game with the same score.

Game one was a resumed game from an earlier rain out. The Sliders jumped on Crusher pitching early scoring two runs. Pace scored on a Lake Erie error, and Joash Brodin came around when Bryan Bonner singled.

Andrew Davis tied up the game in the sixth on a solo shot, which was the only run Nolan Shaffer allowed in six innings of work.

P.J. Zocchi relieved Shaffer and threw a scoreless 8th, 9th, and 10th inning. In the 11th inning Zocchi couldn't hold off the Crushers anymore as they put up they finally put up three runs to take game one.

Dan Horvath made his first start of the season count as he earned his first win for the Sliders. Horvath threw into the fifth inning and only allowed one run on three hits.

Midwest bats only could scrap four hits but they made converted five runs to show. Robbie Knapp led the Sliders going 2-3 with a homer and RBI single.

Saturday Jeff Fischer will start for the Sliders at 7:05 p.m. as the Sliders look to pick up a game on the Crushers in the wild card race.
