
Slammers Beat Aviators 6-4 to Hand Rockford First Loss of the Season

The Joliet Slammers (6-4) rallied from a 3-0 first inning deficit to defeat the Rockford Aviators 6-4 and hand Rockford (9-1) it's first loss of the 2015 Frontier League season Tuesday night at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL. Joliet rapped out 16 hits against five Rockford hurlers to win it's sixth consecutive game and move within three games of the Aviators in the West Division standings.
Ryan Breen's two run homer in the first inning capped off a three run rally that initially put the Aviators on top 3-0. But the Slammers immediately rallied for three runs against Rockford starter Nick Grim to even the score at 3-3 in the top of the second. The Aviators eventually regained the lead on Devon Rodriguez' sac fly in the third before single tallies by the Slammers in the sixth, seventh and eighth enabled Joliet to take control of the contest. Jordan Guth (2-1) pitched the first six innings for Joliet to post the victory, with Navery Moore working the ninth to record the save, Moore yielded a walk and a single in the frame but was able to retire Breen with the tying runs on base to end the game. Pat Dolan (0-1), the third of five pitchers used by Rockford, took the loss after giving up the tie-breaking run in the seventh on an rbi single by Dante Rosenburg, who added another rbi single in the eighth to complete the scoring.
