Skyrockets Defeat Dragons

San Jose, CA. The ABA San Jose Skyrockets (17-5) put on its best offensive show of the year by defeating the undermanned Tijuana Dragons (7-13) 160-101 at the San Jose Auditorium. The Skyrockets started fast and built a quick 20-7 lead with 6:37 to go in the first quarter and never looked back ending with a 44-22 first quarter lead.

San Jose continued its impressive offense in the second quarter highlighted by Anthony "Grasshopper" Lumpkin's 3-D jump shot worth 4 points with 11:15 to go in the half and went into the locker room at halftime with a 77-46 lead.

The Skyrockets started the third period where it left off and continued to dominate reaching 90 points with 10-35 to go in the quarter and having a 37 point lead at the end of three. Having only six players, due to flu, the Dragons were very handicapped and showed great spirit as they competed with the 13 player Skyrockets squad. 11 of San Jose's players ended up in double figures led by Lamar Castile and Jamar Howard with 19 each, Darrius Pope with 15 on five 3-pointers.
