Skyler McKenzie Inks Entry-Level Deal with Winnipeg Jets

Portland Winterhawks forward Skyler McKenzie has signed a three-year entry- level contract with the Winnipeg Jets.

Selected in the seventh round, 198th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft, McKenzie has given the Jets every reason to bring him within their fold after two straight seasons of 80-plus points.

McKenzie's 2017-18 season with the Winterhawks was a career year as he recorded 87 points (47G-40A), including 14 power-play goals, five short-handed goals and five game-winning goals. His season featured 27 multi-point games, including a four-point performance on March 7, 2018 against the Prince George Cougars. He then added eight points (3G-5A) in 12 playoff games with the Winterhawks.

Overall, the 5-foot-9, 165-pound product of Sherwood Park, Alta. has tallied 212 points (101G-111A) in 282 Western Hockey League regular season games, including 24 power-play goals, 10 short-handed goals and 10 game-winning goals. He's also added 18 points (7G-11A) in 42 career WHL Playoff games.

The Winterhawks originally selected McKenzie in the eighth round, 176th overall, of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.
