Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Jan. 10 - A balanced offensive attack led the Sioux Falls Skyforce past the archrival Dakota Wizards on Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. Six Skyforce players scored in double-digits to earn the 119-105 win.

After a come from behind win by the Wizards last night, the Skyforce (12-7) took care of business tonight, gaining the lead early in the first quarter. Dakota (11-9) was unable to answer, thanks in part to tough defensive play by the Skyforce who forced 18 turnovers and made 14 steals as a team. Wizards guard Blake Ahearn was held to 21 points a night after posting a season-high 40 points.

"We had guys step up to the challenge," Skyforce head coach Nate Tibbetts said. "Carl Elliot started it, and Gary Irvin finished it. (Irvin) really didn't give Ahearn a look all night."

The Skyforce was led by Bobby Jones who scored 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Gary Irvin recorded a season-high 20 points while Glen McGowan came on strong in the fourth quarter, scoring nine of his 19 points in the last six minutes of the game.

Renaldo Major's 25 points led all scorers and Maurice Baker recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and dishing out a game-high 10 assists. Richard Hendrix had his second double-double in as many games with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The Skyforce will host Utah on Tuesday at the Sioux Falls Arena and the Wizards will play Utah in Bismarck on Thursday. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m. CT.
