
Sacramento's Green Assigned to NBA D-League Affiliate Reno Bighorns

NEW YORK, Jan. 10, 2009 - Sacramento Kings rookie forward Donte Green was assigned to the team's NBA D-League Affiliate Reno Bighorns, it was announced today. Green is the 19th NBA player assigned to their NBA D-League affiliate this season, and the first player to ever be assigned from the Kings to the NBA D-League.
Green, 6-10 was originally selected by the Memphis Grizzlies in the first-round of the 2008 NBA Draft, Green was traded to the Houston Rockets before being acquired the Sacramento via trade and has appeared in 24 games for the Kings this season, four as a starter, and currently holds averages of 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds.
Green played for one season at Syracuse University where he averaged a team-leading 17.7 points to go with 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 35 games. At the conclusion of his rookie campaign, Green had tallied 620 total points, ranking him second in school history for a freshman behind Denver Nuggets' forward Carmelo Anthony. Additionally, Green established a new Syracuse freshman record for three-pointers made in a single season (90) surpassing the previous mark of 85 set by current Bighorns teammate Gerry McNamara in 2002-03.
Green is expected to join McNamara, Patrick Ewing, Jr. and the Bighorns this morning and be available tonight when the team hosts the Bakersfield Jam. Tip off is set for 10:00 pm ET.
The NBA Development League, founded in 2001, is the NBA's official minor league and features 16 teams with direct affiliations to NBA teams. The league has produced 15 percent of the players on 2007-08 end-of-season NBA rosters and continues to develop current NBA coaches and referees. In fostering the league's connection to the community, its teams, players and staff promote youth basketball, support local needs and interests, and assist in educational development through NBA D-League Cares programs.
