
Skyforce Outlast the Mad Ants in Overtime Thriller

Fort Wayne, IN (February 17, 2009) -- David Bailey scored 32 points to give the Skyforce the 116-114 overtime victory. The Skyforce fought back from a 21 point deficit in the second half to win the game.
The Skyforce got off to a quick 8-0 run to start the game, but the Ants controlled the second half of the quarter and went on a 9-2 run to finish the first 12 minutes of play down only 2 points, 23-25.
Ron Howard hit the first two shots of the second quarter for the Ants as they took the lead for the first time of the game. The home team outscored the Skyforce 40-18 in the quarter to give them a 63-43 lead at the half. David Bailey had 18 first half points for the Skyforce.
The Skyforce fought their way back in the final period of the game to come within three points with 5:00 left. The Skyforce would eventually tie the game off of a Bailey 3-point play with just 17.8 seconds left in the game to send the game into overtime.
The two teams traded baskets in the extra period of play, and, with just under a minute remaining, Walker Russell Jr. converted an offensive put back 3-point play to give the Ants the one point lead. Keith Brumbaugh answered with a clutch 3-pointer to put the Skyforce up with just 13 seconds left. The Ants could not answer, and the Skyforce walked away the win.
Frank Williams came through in the clutch with 22 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to finish with 24 points total. Carl Elliott led the Mad Ants with 31 points, and Taj McCullough chipped in 22 points.
