VIPERS ACQUIRE JAWAD WILLIAMS
The NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced that they have acquired Jawad Williams. To make room on the roster, the Vipers waived Alpha Bangura due to injury. The Vipers retain his rights, and once ready to play, Bangura can be placed back on the active roster. A 6-9, 218 pound forward out of the University of North Carolina, Williams has spent the season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, getting into nine games and scoring four points on 2-of-6 shooting. Williams won a roster spot out of training camp after appearing in five pre-season games and averaging 5.0 points and 2.4 rebounds, including a 13-point, five-rebound performance in 29 minutes against the Boston Celtics on October 14th.
MONDDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Monday's games
Player of the Game Patrick Sanders scored 29 points as the Iowa Energy defeated by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 130-95. Six additional members of the Energy squad contributed double digits, including Demetris Nichols (24 points), Marvin Phillips (21 points), Othyus Jeffers (11 points) and Brian Evans (10 points). Anthony Tolliver added 19 points and 11 rebounds while Curtis Stinson finished the game with 14 points and 15 assists.
Chris Hunter led the Mad Ants' offense by scoring 18 points while Carl Elliott added 14 points and dished out 10 assists. Also contributing double figures for Fort Wayne were Ron Howard (14 points) and Taj McCullough (12 points).
Austin's Pops Mensah-Bonsu had already tallied a double-double by halftime, he added a monster third quarter where he tallied 16 points and 6 rebounds. Mensah-Bonsu finished the night with 26 points and 18 rebounds. Toros forward Marcus Williams played all 48 minutes and ended with 34 points while center Eric Dawson finished with 6 points and 12 rebounds.
Anaheim's Kedrick Brown finished with 27 points and 9 rebounds while Cedric Bozeman finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
