Westchester Knicks News Release
SIOUX FALLS, March 20, 2015 - The Westchester Knicks (10-33), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, suffered a setback in South Dakota tonight as the Sioux Falls Skyforce (24-19), the Miami Heat's affiliate, won 112-96.
A rough first quarter producing just 14 points from Westchester would give Sioux Falls an early advantage, which the Skyforce held on to for the entirety of the game. Neither team shot particularly well in the first half; Westchester 13-of-38, Sioux Falls 19-of-48, but one glaring difference came from behind the arc. The Knicks went a dismal 0-for-12 from downtown, giving the Skyforce an automatic advantage as they were able to connect on six of their attempts in the half.
Sioux Falls had a spring in its step which Westchester could not match, as the Skyforce outrebounded the Knicks 55-37 in the contest. Leading Westchester by double digits for the entire second half, Sioux Falls' largest lead came by a 24 point margin. The Knicks were hot from the free throw line, connecting on 21 of their 22 attempts, but the troubles from the line further out would hold them back as Westchester shot just 21 percent from beyond the arc.
Doron Lamb continued to shine for Westchester, putting up 24 points and seven rebounds. Thanasis Antetokounmpo showed off his versatility, ending with 15 points, eight rebounds, four steals, three assists, and a blocked shot. Trey Gilder came off the bench to supply 14 points and five rebounds. Ben Strong also finished with 14 points, adding eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Off the bench for Sioux Falls, Andre Dawkins posted a game-high 25 points. Shawn Jones followed with 20 points, securing a double-double with 14 rebounds. Khem Birch had 15 rebounds in the contest; Larry Drew providing 13 assists.
The two teams are back tomorrow night, March 21, to face each other for the final time this season. The game will be broadcast live on MSG 2 and YouTube beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.
