Legends Slip in Austin

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Texas Legends traveled to Austin Friday night to face the rival Spurs for the seventh time this season. After 14 lead changes and eight ties, the Spurs closed out the season series with a win to pull to 3-4.

The Spurs took an early lead and held on through the entire first quarter behind nine points from Orlando Johnson. Justin Jackson slammed in a dunk to begin the second with a force and grab the Legends' first lead of the night. The Spurs responded quickly and powered their way to an 11-point lead with just under three minutes to halftime. Justin Dentmon had an answer for the double-digit deficit with three triple-pointers in the final two and a half minutes to cut Austin's lead to four.

Dentmon began the second half with another quick five points to give the Legends the advantage, but the Spurs relentlessly answered. After 10 lead changes in twelve minutes, Austin headed into the fourth quarter up 92-89. Jarrid Famous grabbed 10 points and 6 boards in the fourth but the Legends were unable to regain the advantage. The Spurs outrebounded the Legends 53-32 on the night and ultimately grabbed a 126-113 victory.

Dentmon led the Legends with 27 points, 8 assists while Mike James added 22 points, 8 assists. Famous added the game's only double-double of 20 points, 14 rebounds.

Jonathan Simmons posted a game-high 29 points to lead the Spurs while Johnson added 23 points, 7 rebounds.

The Legends return home to host the Maine Red Claws at 7pm at Dr Pepper Arena. The game will be broadcast live on television--Texas 47--as well as radio--KVCE 1160am.
