Skyforce Acquires Brandon McCoy

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired Brandon McCoy from the available player pool.

McCoy, a 7-0, 250-pound center out of UNLV went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was the 16th pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA G League Draft for the Skyforce.

He played in the 2021 NBA Summer League with the Miami HEAT and spent the last two seasons overseas where McCoy had a professional career-high of 11.8 points on 59.0 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per 16.9 minutes a game for Zlatibor Cajetina of the Serbian League and Caciques de Humacao of the Puerto Rican League in 2020-21. He posted 4.6 points on 58.3 percent shooting, 3.8 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per 13.0 minutes for Telenet BC Oostende of the Belgian League in 2021-22.

Prior to playing overseas, the San Diego, CA native played two seasons for the Wisconsin Herd from 2018-2020. In 67 total games (11 starts), he posted 7.5 points on 46.2 percent shooting, 5.8 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per 14.7 minutes a game.

McCoy, who was the 2018 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, averaged 16.9 points on 54.5 percent shooting, 10.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per 28.8 minutes in 33 starts in 2017-18 for the Runnin' Rebels. He was also named to the 2018 Mountain West All-Conference Second Team.

Additionally, McCoy averaged 4.5 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 3.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists per 9.6 minutes a game for the HEAT in five appearances in the 2021 NBA Summer League.

Jamaree Bouyea's NBA Call-Up to the Miami HEAT completed the transaction.

McCoy is expected to be available for the team's upcoming game against the Westchester Knicks on Friday night at 6:00 PM CST from Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT.
