Ignite Defeats Spurs in Exciting Finish, 106-99

CEDAR PARK, Texas. - NBA G League Ignite (7-9) defeated the Austin Spurs (5-12), 106-99, on Wednesday at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Cedar Park, Texas.

Pooh Jeter led the way for Ignite as he poured in a team-high 22 points, five rebounds and three assists off the bench. Leonard Miller notched a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while John Jenkins added 13 points, four assists and two rebounds. Mojave King grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds with eight points, three assists and two steals.

The Spurs had five players in double figures, led by Dominick Barlow with 26 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Jordan Hall recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Brandon Randolph tallied 17 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

After trailing 5-4 in the opening minutes, Ignite used a 26-8 run to take a 17-point lead with under four minutes in the first quarter. Ignite finished the opening period with a 12-point lead behind Leonard Miller and Eric Mika, who both recorded eight points in that span. The Spurs battled back in the second quarter by scoring six consecutive points to cut its deficit to six points with a little over six minutes remaining in the half. Ignite responded by extending its lead by 13 points at the halfway mark. Ignite stepped up on the defensive end in first half to hold the Spurs to 32.6 percent shooting from the field and 23.1 percent from the three-point line.

Ignite took its largest lead, 18, in the third quarter en route to taking a 17-point advantage into the final frame. The Spurs picked up stream in the fourth quarter and used a 24-7 run to even the score with four minutes remaining in regulation. Justin Kier, of the Spurs, made his presence known as he scored 10 of his 12 points in the frame. Tied up at 91, Pooh Jeter scored 10 consecutive points for Ignite, including a clutch three-pointer to give Ignite a four-point lead with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Jeter tallied 15 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to end the Spurs comeback aspirations.
