Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - Colorado Springs held the Memphis offense in check Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park to score a 3-1 win.
The Sky Sox struck first with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Back-to-back RBI-singles from Chris Nelson and Mike Paulk gave the Sox all the offense they needed. Paulk was again a part of the action in the seventh, doubling to start the inning and eventually scoring on Matt Miller's pinch-hit single. Memphis manager Chris Maloney and second baseman Daniel Descalso were ejected arguing Paulk had been thrown out at second base to start the inning. The Redbirds offense went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position with starting pitcher Lance Lynn driving in the club's lone run.
Colorado Springs starter Josh Muecke earned the win allowing one run on five hits and three walks across six innings. Lynn was pinned with the loss despite his 12th quality start of the year giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits in his six-plus innings of work. Matt Reynolds earned his seventh save of the season recording the final four outs.
The 'Birds and Sox wrap-up their four-game series tomorrow night with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Nate Robertson will make his AutoZone Park debut for Memphis with Colorado Springs yet to name a starter. Tomorrow night will be Moe's Monday, fans can receive one-dollar off ticket prices with a receipt from the Moe's Poplar location and if the Redbirds score five-plus runs fans can receive a free bowl of queso with their ticket.
