Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

Colorado Springs scored six runs in the third inning and outlasted Tacoma Friday night at Security Service Field, 10-7 in front of 3,875 fans.

Already ahead 2-0, the Sky Sox benefited from two errors and a wild pitch in a crazy third inning that saw the home team plate six runs on five hits. The first five hitters of the inning reached base and eventually scored in an inning that featured catcher Edwin Bellorin's first triple since August 18, 2006.

Tacoma starting pitcher Andrew Baldwin (1-3) didn't make it out of the inning. He allowed 9 runs on 11 hits in just 3.1 innings.

Mark Redman (1-1) was just good enough Friday to earn his first win of the season for the Sky Sox. The crafty left hander allowed 6 runs on 10 hits in his five innings of work.

Cedrick Bowers worked three strong innings in relief of Redman and gave up one run on a solo homer by Charlton Jimerson while striking out three and walking none. Steven Register gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth to notch his fifth save of the season.

The Sky Sox and Rainiers continue their series tomorrow at Security Service Field. John Koronka (4-1, 4.62) will get the call for the home team while Robert Rohrbaugh (3-3, 5.93) gets the ball for Tacoma. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
