The Colorado Springs Sky Sox blasted three home runs, the last of which came from relief pitcher Tim Dillard in a four-run fifth inning as the Sky Sox downed the New Orleans Zephyrs on Wednesday afternoon, 9-5.

With the game tied 5-5 in the fifth, Garin Cecchini lifted a sacrifice fly to put the Sky Sox in front. Eric Young, Jr. laced a double into the left-center field gap to score another run, and Dillard followed with the third home run of his career to give Colorado Springs a four-run cushion.

It was the third home run of Dillard's career, and the first by an opposing pitcher against the Zephyrs since Marco Gonzalez did so for Memphis in 2004. It was also the first time a Sky Sox pitcher homered against New Orleans since Kevin Jarvis in 2004.

Dillard (2-0) took over for an erratic Ariel Pena in the fourth inning and delivered three innings of one-run ball to also earn the win on the mound.

Early on, it was the Austin Nola show for the Zephyrs. After a first-inning single, Nola stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the second and ripped a double to the left field wall to score all three runs and put the Z's in front, 4-1.

Andy Wilkins took Zephyrs starter Chris Narveson deep with two outs in the third to inch the Sky Sox within 4-2, and Colorado Springs vaulted into the lead an inning later when Keon Broxton slugged a three-run shot, his fifth of the year.

Nola responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to drive in Don Kelly and briefly even the score. Nola equaled his career high with four RBI, and recorded three hits in a game for the first time since last September 5 at Colorado Springs.

But the Sky Sox bullpen held the Zephyrs in check over the final five innings, as Dillard, Austin Ross, Drew Gagnon and Jacob Barnes combined to limit the Z's to three hits the rest of the day.

In his Triple-A debut, Hunter Adkins (0-1) was charged with all four runs in the fifth inning to take the loss in relief of Narveson, who allowed five runs and eight hits in four innings.

The Zephyrs and Sky Sox resume the series on Thursday at 7 p.m.
