Bees Win on Kids Day

SALT LAKE CITY - Bees starting pitcher Kyle McGowin earned his first Triple-A victory as the Bees won their fifth straight with a 4-2 decision over Albuquerque on Wednesday afternoon. McGowin scattered just four hits and one earned run through six innings. Neal Cotts, Lucas Luetge and Al Alburquerque combined for three innings of relief to finish it for Salt Lake pitchers. Alburquerque earned his fifth save of the season and second in as many nights. His five saves are good for 5th most in the PCL this season.

On offense the Bees were led by Nick Buss who went 3-for-4, Gregorio Petit (2-for-2) and Kaleb Cowart (second home run of the season). Last season, Nick Buss batted .429 against the Albuquerque Isotopes. He continued his success today going (3-for-4) with a run scored. Buss has been on a hot streak in the month of May batting a robust .353 with 4 RBI and leads the team in average at .336. With three hits today, Buss has totaled 13 multi-hit games, which also leads the team.

Smith's Ballpark packed in 15,020 fans for the day game as the Bees hosted the 14th Annual Salt Lake Bees Prevention Dimensions Kids Day. More than 12,000 5th and 6th graders from 17 different school districts in Utah were in attendance.

"It was actually fun," Buss said about playing in front of a sold-out crowd of fifth and sixth graders. "I think that having all the sunlight and a warmer game mixed with all the fans was actually a pretty cool atmosphere. It was fun playing in front of a big crowd"

Salt Lake will face the Albuquerque Isotopes again Thursday night in Salt Lake City and look to take the four-game series behind the arm of Chris Jones. All Bees games - home and away - are broadcast on The Zone Sports Network (1280 AM) with Steve Klauke providing the play-by-play.
