Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT - The Beloit Sky Carp played a little long ball Sunday afternoon, and the result was a 6-0 victory over the Great Lakes Loons.

A terrific crowd of 1,721 enjoyed a sunny afternoon as the Sky Carp took the field in Paw Patrol jerseys. The jerseys were later auctioned off for charity.

Tanner Allen got the proceedings started from the leadoff spot, cracking a home run to right field to give the Sky Carp a 1-0 advantage in the first.

The score stayed that way until the sixth, when Khalil Watson smashed an opposite-field, two-run blast to increase the edge to 3-0.

A two-run single by Cameron Barstad and a sacrifice fly by Watson made it 6-0 in the seventh.

Beloit starting pitcher Zach King was outstanding, pitching 5 1-3 innings while allowing just three hits and striking out six Loons. Caleb Wurster came out of the bullpen to get out of a two-on, one-out jam to preserve the lead.

The Sky Carp will take to the road beginning Tuesday when they face Peoria in the first of a six-game series. The team will be back home Tuesday, June 13 to face the Quad Cities River Bandits.

The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
